Every so often I get an email from a reader frustrated that I have blogged so often about Sarah Palin, even after her ticket lost on November 4th. "Aloha Toby," read a recent one (you guessed it, it was from Hawaii). "Gosh Darn, we are all so over Sarah Palin, move on, PLEASE!!!"
Well, point taken. But the truth, as our own internal Telegraph figures bear out, is that nothing drives web traffic like a mention of Sarah Palin.
Put "Sarah Palin bikini" into google (not that I would do such a thing) and you get 1.6 million results.
Express a strong opinion either way about the Alaska governor in a blog and you'll be inundated with electronic praise and bile in equal measure for days to come.
As Tina Brown, the former New Yorker editor who is now at the helm of the peppy, provocative new website the Daily Beast (fast becoming a must-read), puts it in this Howard Kurtz interview: "Sarah Palin is crack cocaine to the Internet."
